Joanne is an experienced piano teacher who loves to bring the joy of music to each student in a fun, warm, educational environment. She has a passion to pass on the love of music as well as to educate each student in music appreciation and theory.
She has been teaching piano for 7 years in person and online. A webinar on Teaching Effectively Online from the Royal Academy of Music was completed Spring of 2020. Currently, she is accepting online students age 7 to adult, specializing in Beginner and Intermediate level. She has experience with special needs students and believes that each student learns at their own pace and individual style. Availability is Wednesday AM or Thursday AM/PM.
Music has always been a part of Joanne’s life as she studied piano for 10 years as well as played violin, handbells and has been active in school and church choirs.
When you learn to play piano, you train your ears to listen, your eyes to read and your heart to express yourself in the universal language of music.
The preferred curriculum will be Faber Piano Adventures Lesson books as well as the Theory book that accompanies each level. There is the option of adding the Technique and/or Artistry book. The Adult Beginner book has all books in one.
For those who have never played before, the Primer Level introduces the keyboard, note values, and the grand staff.
You may pay with PayPal or check, whichever is more convenient. Your first lesson will be free as it is a time for teacher and student to get acquainted and to see if learning online will be a good fit for you or your child.
Lessons are taught via Facetime as this has been the easiest for parents and students.
